Parent Coaching and Outcomes: The Saudi Experience

This presentation examines the transformative impact of Saudi Arabia’s Newborn Hearing Screening (NHS) program on early identification and intervention for children with hearing loss, the rationale for adopting the auditory-verbal therapy program, emphasizing key parental factors, and coaching strategies that drive language development success within the cochlear implant program.
By the end of this session, the learner will be able to:
- Explore the NHS program in Saudi Arabia and the prevalence of hearing loss.
- Learn the rationale behind choosing the AVT program for intervention in the cochlear implant program and its relevance to the population at King Fahad Hospital.
- Examine the most effective coaching strategies in AVT for the parents population in our CI program and the parental factors with the greatest impact on speech and language skills.
