AG Bell’s global programs bring together professionals, families, and individuals around the world who are deaf or hard of hearing and use listening and spoken language. Global Professional Council (GPC)

The GPC is committed to expanding LSL for children and their families through conversations, connection, community, championing, and change around LSL. 

GPC includes members who represent different countries. Country Leads will act as member representatives of AG Bell and will work with others to create local initiatives that:  

  • Make LSL information available for professionals in their geographic location.  
  • Promote the importance of developing/having a local LSL community dedicated to increasing the number of knowledgeable and skilled LSL professionals. 
  • Expand professional member engagement with the AG Bell Association as a professional home.

Global Family Council (GFC)

The GFC is designed to connect families to AG Bell to make LSL information available for families around the world. 

The GFC includes members who represent different countries. The goal of the GFC is to ensure families around the world: 

  • Know the time to act is now and will not lose precious time in getting their child the services they may need.
  • Receive emotional support and resources that will help their child and them thrive.
  • Access a community that compliments the supports they may already be receiving and find ways they can build skills and strength in peers locally.
  • Recognize and help peers “get past” the stigma of hearing loss to the potential and possibilities of hearing loss.
  • Be empowered from where they are as they recognize their role as drivers and changemakers in the life of their child and themselves.

Global Matters Committee (GMC)

The Global Matters Committee (GMC) is a committee of the AG Bell Board of Directors. The GMC is comprised of volunteer leaders from various countries who provide leadership and direct service related to various AG Bell projects and programming, including Global Professional Conversation Zoom meetings, the Global Family Council and the Global Professional Council. The GMC welcomes participation and works to include participants across the globe in their work.

AG Bell currently has representation in 75 countries. The Global Matters Committee is committed to providing support and guidance to the growing international community while staying in alignment with AG Bell’s strategic goals. 

The goals of the committee are to: 

  • Increase awareness of LSL and solidify AG Bell as the “go-to” global resource for LSL. 
  • Support professionals globally to enhance their LSL knowledge and practice. 
  • Serve as a liaison between the AG Bell Association and families, professionals, and other shareholders worldwide.
