Global LSL Symposium Brings Us Together, Again

AG Bell’s 2026 Global LSL Symposium brought attendees from 18 countries together in Arlington for the organization’s first in-person meeting since 2019, creating meaningful opportunities for learning, networking, and connection.

On June 4 to 6, 2026, AG Bell welcomed attendees representing 18 countries to Arlington, Va., for our first in-person meeting since 2019. The vibes and energy could not be contained as old friends reconnected and new connections were forged. Highlights from the in-person meeting included networking sessions, interactive presentations, an active exhibition hall, and lots of hugs from old friends and connections with new ones.

Live Learning Opportunities

As with every Symposium, the educational advisory committee put together a terrific slate of presenters representing a wide range of topics, interests, and perspectives. What made the in-person presentations different was the opportunities for attendees to ask questions, meet presenters, and connect on a more personal level. This increased the amount of learning each attendee experienced.

One attendee summarized their experience this way:

“What I enjoyed the absolute most about the Symposium was the invaluable opportunity to reconnect with long-time colleagues and forge meaningful new connections within our professional community…nothing replaces the energy of being in the same room with peers who share the same passion. The informal conversations between sessions, the brainstorming during breaks, and the chance to welcome new faces into our network truly reminded me of the strength and warmth of our community. It was these personal and collaborative interactions that made the entire experience worthwhile.”

For others, the opportunity to connect helped reenergize their passion for the field of Listening and Spoken Language development: “I have felt very siloed in my practice for the past 6 years due to mostly virtual meetings (private practice, coaching). This conference rejuvenated me!”

Another attendee added that they enjoyed the Symposium because of the “Ability to connect in person, finally, including meeting key people that I can see collaborating lots with in future!”

On-Demand Symposium Opens July 27

While AG Bell was excited to host a live Symposium, we recognize that travel and cost commitments were high this year. Early on, AG Bell committed to recording most sessions and making them available during a Virtual Symposium, July 27-September 30. While we will be unable to recreate the magic of meeting in person, those interested in the educational program will still be able to view most sessions, hear the questions asked, and earn CEUs for their attendance.

In-person attendees will receive access, as will anyone who registers for on-demand only. As one attendee noted, “I am thankful for the option of online, on-demand sessions because it is a significant cost, and I want to be able to get as many CEUs and LSL information as possible.”

Details about the Virtual Symposium is available on the AG Bell website. It isn’t too late to register! Most sessions have been recorded and will be available to view and earn CEUs.

Ongoing Commitment to Learning

AG Bell is committed to ongoing learning for those interested in expanding their knowledge of Listening and Spoken Language. This fall, the AG Bell Fall Forum will return as a virtual, half-day conference focused on Genetics and Hearing Loss. As the FDA begins approving genetic therapies in the United States, accurate information about genetic testing and candidacy is important. Join us on October 15 to gain important knowledge needed to have informed conversations with parents and their child(ren) with hearing loss.

AG Bell would like to extend its thanks to everyone who volunteered to make the live Symposium a success, and we look forward to our next in-person event soon.
