Using the Speech Babble Garden Graphic

The Speech Babble Garden is a quick reference and tracking tool for parents and professionals working through the Phoneme Level of the Auditory Learning Guide (ALG). It conveniently illustrates potential consonant pairs differing by voice, place, and manner, a variety of vowels, and the progression of complexity levels per the ALG.
By the end of this session, the learner will be able to:
- Define aspects of speech sound production such as voice, manner, and place.
- Review steps six (6) through nine (9) of the Phoneme Level on the Auditory Learning Guide.
- Discuss examples and benefits of speech babble on auditory perception and phoneme production.
Not Your Mentor’s Ling Check

Including a Ling check is part of engaging in good practice, but this kid doesn’t have a clue what to do! Join us to discuss different methods of performing Ling checks from conditioned play to discrimination tasks, to a typical Ling test imitation.
By the end of this session, the learner will be able to:
- Discuss information that can be gathered during a Ling check.
- Identify the listening skill targeted.
- Define strategies for teaching detection, discrimination, and identification.
