Aided threshold and speech perception testing is essential to understanding how children hear with technology, but interpretation can be challenging. This presentation will explain interpretation of testing and unique applications for Listening and Spoken Language Specialists (LSLS), speech-language pathologists (SLP), teachers of the deaf (TOD), educational audiologists, clinical audiologists, and parents for developing children’s listening and spoken language through audition.
By the end of this session, the learner will be able to:
- Describe current tests and test protocols available to assess aided benefit a child receives from their hearing technology.
- Interpret aided threshold and speech perception results with respect to the child’s listening age, spoken language development, educational placement, and needed accommodations.
- Explain how clinical audiologists, educational audiologists, LSLS, SLPs, TODs, and parents may use aided results in their practice to assist the child.
