What is qualitative research and how can it advance auditory verbal practice? This session will combine
a discussion of the presenters’ qualitative research findings with diverse groups of parents (e.g.,
multilingual families, adoptive families) with a step-by-step tutorial for attendees interested in
conducting qualitative research of their own.
By the end of this session, the learner will be able to:
- Identify at least three findings from qualitative research on caregivers of children with hearing loss.
- Suggest at least three modifications to auditory-verbal practice in light of research findings on parents’ experiences.
- Describe the theoretical underpinnings and process of qualitative research.
