The AG Bell Professional Learning and Mentoring Committee invites you to attend this interactive session focused on a shifting perspective in mentoring. The presentation will set the stage for changing your mindset. Participants will be asked to share their mentoring experiences. We will dive deeper into changing our thought process from the traditional methods to new, strength-based mentoring methods.
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Describe two key differences between the traditional and the strength-based mindset.
- Identify two strategies to facilitate this mindset shift in mentoring.

Kristin Schaaf, M.A., CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert. AVT, is a Listening and Spoken Language Specialist, Auditory-Verbal Therapist, and Speech-Language Pathologist at St. Joseph Hearing and Speech in Indianapolis (United States). With 17 years’ experience, she supports children who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families—clinically and as a mentor—while coaching parents and training professionals in best practices for spoken language development.
