Why Fundraise?

Every person who is deaf or hard of hearing has a story worth sharing. Your journey, your challenges, and your triumphs can inspire others and make a real difference. By starting a Hear Our Stories fundraiser, you are helping to ensure that more children and teens receive the support they need to thrive.

By raising funds, you’ll be supporting financial assistance for families, leadership programs like LEAP and LOFT, and critical resources that empower young people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Your story has the power to bring people together and create change!

How Your Fundraising Helps:

🔹 $60 helps provide financial assistance for waterproof hearing device covers for kids who love sports
🔹 $300 helps support a family’s costs for hearing device batteries for a full year
🔹 $900 helps cover the cost for a teen to attend the transformative LOFT leadership program

How It Works:

1️⃣ Set up your fundraiser. Set a goal and personalize your page.

2️⃣ Share YOUR story!

  • Share anything you’d like to about your hearing loss and/or speech journey. (Personal experience, advocacy activities, etc)
  • What’s something about your experience that most people don’t know, or that you wish more people knew? Or what is a recent hardship you have overcome?
  • What role has AG Bell played in your personal journey?

3️⃣ Spread the Word – Share your fundraiser via social media, email, and text and help us reach our collective $3,000 fundraising goal!

The fundraiser who raises the most will win a $50 gift card!

Getting Started

  • How do I start my fundraiser?

Starting your fundraiser is easy! Click this link to create your fundraising page on FundraiseUp. Need help? Watch the video posted above or check out these written instructions for step-by-step guidance.

  • Is there a minimum or suggested fundraising goal?

There’s no minimum requirement, but we recommend setting a goal of $300 to maximize impact. Feel free to challenge yourself and set a higher goal—every dollar raised makes a difference!

  • Can I customize my fundraiser page?

Absolutely! You can add a personal message, fundraiser name, goal, photo, and even a specific designation for the funds you raise. Sharing your personal story makes your page more engaging and inspiring.

  • Do I need a personal connection to AG Bell to start a fundraiser?

Nope! Anyone who supports our mission can start a fundraiser. You can also fundraise on behalf of someone else and even ask donors to include a tribute message with their gift.

  • How do I start or join a team fundraiser?

To start a team, create a fundraiser and invite members using the link provided in your confirmation email. If you’d like to join an existing team, click the create fundraiser link and select Join a Team and find the team you would like to join.

  • Is a video required to start a fundraiser?

A video isn’t required, but adding one significantly boosts engagement! Sharing a short video about why this cause matters to you will help attract more donors.

Sharing & Promoting Your Fundraiser

  • What’s the best way to share my fundraiser?

The best way is to post on social media, email, and direct messages. Once you create your fundraiser, you’ll get a unique link to share. It will also be sent to you in a confirmation email.

  • Are there sample messages I can use to ask for donations?

Yes! We have sample email templates to help you spread the word. You can find them here.

  • Can I share my fundraiser on social media? If so, how?

Yes! When you create your fundraiser, you’ll receive shareable links for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and more. We recommend posting regular updates, sharing your personal story, and thanking donors publicly.

  • How often should I post or email about my fundraiser?

Post as often as you’re comfortable! We recommend:

    • Announcing your fundraiser when you start
    • Sharing updates at least once a week
    • Posting a final push before the campaign ends on March 3rd
    • Thanking your donors and celebrating progress

Tip: The top fundraiser will win a $50 Visa gift card—so keep sharing!
