Living in Paradise—Elie’s Educational Journey at Paradise Valley

Thanks to AG Bell's School-Age scholarship, Elie is thriving at Paradise Valley—earning straight A’s, shining in sports and academics, and confidently growing with support tailored to his hearing needs.

Ever since kindergarten, Elie’s school has felt like home. With small classroom settings and an emphasis on creating a community, Paradise Valley Christian school has been the perfect environment for Elie’s growth and development. The class size also serves a particular advantage, since Elie shared that he could hear the teacher and have it “not feel so loud in the classroom”.

Elie was diagnosed as a newborn with bilateral mild-to-moderate sensorineural hearing loss. Due to the newborn screening, his parents were able to fit him with hearing aids at just 3 months old and help him develop Listening and Spoken Language skills. Paradise Valley felt like a learning environment that could best serve him, and the results speak for themselves as he’s been able to maintain straight As, from kindergarten to grade 9. His educational journey has also included various extracurricular activities that sparked Elie’s interest.

Elie currently participates in soccer as well as track and field. He performed at the Math Olympics and even has been awarded the Humanitarian Kid of the Year award from Animalearn. He also volunteers as an ambassador for shadowing and new students at Paradise Valley, a role he was most likely chosen for due to his outgoing attitude. Elie’s science and homeroom teacher, Abigail Baker, claims that he’s always been “very funny, smart, caring, and gets along well with classmates.”

The School-Age Financial Aid scholarship helps Elie with tuition costs to continue attending Paradise Valley and be the social butterfly he’s always been.

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2026 School-Age Financial Aid scholarship. Apply by April 13, 2026, to support your child’s educational journey at parochial, independent, or traditional private schools.
