Science-Based Back-Up: Research that Supports LSL Outcomes

AG Bell's annotated bibliography provides research-based support for the communication and language development of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH).

Lea en Español

Did you know AG Bell has a comprehensive list of research that supports Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) Development?

Our annotated bibliography was developed to provide research-based support for the communication and language development of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH). It includes research about typical language development, language development for children who are DHH, bilingual language development, cochlear implant and hearing aid outcomes, auditory brain development, early intervention, outcomes of LSL intervention, psychosocial development, literacy, and parent choice/coaching.

Having research-supported outcomes at your fingertips can help when advocating for supports in school, advocating for changes in your local government and school board policies, and ease concerns about whether LSL was the right choice for you.

Research from 2017 to 2024 is included, categorized by research category, and summarized for ease of use in case you don’t have access to the article linked.
