An AG Bell Cradle-to-Career Moment
By Yolanda Lu

Mia Shinall received a hearing loss diagnosis at age 4 months and received bilateral cochlear implants at age 9 months. She has since successfully completed AVT (auditory-verbal therapy) and her speech continues to develop with each day.

Mia participates in a daycare that provides invaluable one-on-one interactions with other children. This personalized approach has played a pivotal role in Mia’s development. Mia loves her older brother Archer, the beach, and cooking. “Her favorite job in the kitchen is to mix ingredients,” her family told AG Bell.

Mia is always curious and eager to learn new skills and loves engaging with her surrounding environment. She continues to thrive and grow as a healthy, versatile child.
